Beethoven's Learning Garden

At Beethoven we have a lovely "Learning Garden" located in the back of our school along the gate bordering Beethoven and Mark Twain Middle School. Our garden consists of various trees and plants. Students and teachers help to maintain and learn in the garden. Daily at lunch students save perishable items so it can be adding to our permanent composting piles. Throughout the garden are benches and tables to encourage reading and socializing during recess.

Recently Common Vision Orchard planted a dozen new fruit trees to add to our garden. Students and teachers learned about the care of these new trees and were apart of the planting process. Students also created murals for each tree. Classes will adopt the tree and work with Common Vision to care for the new trees. Common Vision also created a new water-saving irrigation system to support the new fruit trees.
