Special Education

Our special education program at Beethoven consists of a resource program (learning center), two preschool special education programs called PAL (Preschool for All Learners) and a host of special education staff. The program is lead by our assistant principal, Mr. Carlos Ponce. At Beethoven we are dedicated to servicing the needs of all learners including those who need extra support to be successful in the general education and special education classes.

Resource Specialist Program (RSP)

Our Resource Specialist Program (RSP) is an integral part of the Beethoven community. Our team develops an individualized educational program (IEP) that provides the necessary supplementary aids and services for the student to make steady gains. The RSP also offers a learning center in which students who do not have an IEP can receive support.

Preschool for All Learners (PAL)

At Beethoven we offer two Preschool for All Learners (PAL) classrooms. PAL is a special day program in a full size classroom. Classrooms have equipped with developmentally appropriate furniture, learning toys and dramatic play in addition to education supports. The program includes regular scheduled interactions with typical peers served in our kindergarten classes. PAL serves students with a range of disabilities. Each class has one special education teacher and two special education assistants. In some classes additional staff support specific needs of individual students. The program is scheduled for Monday through Friday for 4 hours and 30 minutes at day starting at 8:30am and ending at 1pm.
