Beethoven's Music Program

Beethoven has two wonderful music programs, PS Arts music and instrumental music. Music education in elementary schools are a vital aspect of a successful curriculum. Research have found evidence supporting the benefits and positive effects of music education within schools. Here are few reasons why music education benefits students.

What is the PS Arts Music Program?

PS Arts is a program that serves public schools and community. PS Arts is the only organization in Southern and Central California that provides yearlong arts education in dance, music, theater and visual arts to every child in a school during the regular school day. At Beethoven, PS Arts provides a music program in which every student gets to attend a music class taught by a PS Arts music teacher once a week. The music class incorporates several instruments including flutes, drums, voice and movement. The PS Arts teacher lends their support to the Winter Program, the Multi Cultural Dance, the 5th Grade Living Museum and the 5th Grade Culmination.
 

What is the instrumental program?

LAUSD provides one arts teachers to Beethoven. The arts teacher chosen is an instrumental teacher. The instrumental teacher teaches wind instruments to selected 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. The class is called orchestra. The students perform their instruments at the Winter Program and a Spring Concert.
 

Are there other music classes?

Yes, through the Beethoven After School Enrichment classes there are several opportunities for students to take additional music class.
