Beethoven’s Scores

At Beethoven Elementary our mission is to inspire students to reach their highest potential in academic achievement and personal growth within an environment of cooperative learning, mutual respect, and cultural diversity. By creating an environment that nurtures the whole child through core academics (language arts, math, science, art, music, drama, PE) and beyond the core enrichments (garden, nutrition, coding, social emotional support, reading support, extended physical enrichments) we meet the needs of all learning styles exposing student’s talents and interests.
Testing both summative and formative is a way to monitor our progress. As a staff we use the data to determine areas of need along with other tools such as on-going assessments.

SQII: 88/100

What is SQII?
As a Core Wavier district, LAUSD, we are no longer under the guidelines of No Child Left Behind. Henceforth we are no longer measured by an API but now with the SQII (School Quality Improvement Index). The SQII measures two domains; academics and social emotional/culture and climate. Several factors are used to comprise a school’s score such as academic performance on English Language Arts, Math, Absenteeism, Suspension, English Learner Re-Designation, Social Emotional Skills and Culture and Climate. To measure those areas, test scores, data on students and surveys are used to collect the information to form the overall score.

SBAC: ELA Met/Exceeded 54%; Math Met/Exceeded 58%

What is the SBAC?
The SBAC is the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium which is the California assessment used to measure the academic performance of students in grades 3 – 5. The SBAC is an online, computer adaptive test that students take over a course of a few weeks in English Language Arts and Math. The SBAC replaced the previous test, California State Test (CST).

CST Science: 89%: Proficient & Advanced

What is the CST Science?
The CST Science is the California State Test in Science that all 5th Graders take around the same time as the SBAC. The CST Science test is taken in 5th, 8th and 11th grade to measure student’s science performance. This  school year, 2016-17, LAUSD will be field testing a new science test to meet the needs of the new science standards, NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). In the year 2017-18 there will be full implementation of the new NGSS Test.

California Physical Fitness Test (PFT): 68% Passed (41/60 students passed)

What is the PFT?
The PFT is the mandated spring physical fitness assessment for the state of California. Students in grades 5th, 7th and 9th take an assessment called the FITNESSGRAM in the spring. The FITNESSGRAM measures aerobic activity, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition. Each student is assessed in 6 areas: one mile walk/run, curl ups, push-ups, trunk lifts, shoulder stretch or sit & reach and height and weight. Students must pass at least 5 areas to get a passing score.
