Common Vision Orchards visits Beethoven Elementary School and plants a dozen fruit trees.
On Tuesday, February 16th the non-profit group Common Vision Orchard came to Beethoven to plant a dozen fruit trees in our school's "Learning Garden." Common Vision implements innovative strategies in sustainability with diverse communities and schools throughout California. Focusing on fruit trees, local agriculture, renewable energy, and community engagement, Common Vision uses inspirational education to create a healthier and more just society. The Common Vision staff, led by Michael Flynn, worked with several classes to plant the new trees, educate the students on the trees, create murals for the trees with students, tidy up our existing garden and add a new water-saving irrigation system. We are excited about our new fruit trees and have a plan to allow classrooms to adopt a tree so it is well taken care of. It was a pleasure to have Common Vision on our campus and we look forward to working with them on a yearly basis to support us in taking care of our trees. Thank you Common Vision!
