Gifted & Talented at Beethoven

The goal of our gifted and talented program at Beethoven is to identify gifted and talented students including those from diverse racial, socioeconomic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and provide high quality differentiated opportunities for learning that meet students' particular abilities and talents.

How many students are gifted at Beethoven?

We have about 20 identified gifted students for the 2015-16 school year, about 10 sent in for gifted identification and 10 who passed the OLSAT at 2nd grade. Some of our students are identified as gifted in multiple areas. The 10 students who passed the OLSAT are now automatically identified as gifted for the 2016-17 school year.

How do you differentiate for gifted learners?

We differentiate by using depth, complexity, novelty and acceleration. As a SAS school we also use, flexible grouping, accelerated pacing, tiered lessons, learning/interest centers, project based learning, novel products and real life application of standards. Our staff takes part in over 16+ hours of gifted professional development per year.
