Can you believe summer is already here? While we want our students to run, play, and soak up the sunshine, we also want to keep those amazing reading brains active! 🧠✨
The Los Angeles library systems are hosting their FREE Summer Reading Programs from now through August 9, 2026. There are awesome tracking challenges, free events, and huge prizes up for grabs for all ages (yes, grown-ups too!).
Check out the two fantastic options below to keep the reading magic alive at home:
🎨 Option 1: LAPL's "Summer With the Library"

The Theme: Postmarked From L.A. 🗺️

How it works: Track your child's reading on the Beanstack app or grab a physical game board from your local city library branch. Complete 10 fun reading or learning badges to win!

The Swag: Kids score fun completion prizes, free passes to L.A. City Pools 🏊♂️, and entries to win grand prizes like gift cards and Apple iPads!

⚽ Option 2: LA County Library's "Summer Discovery"

The Theme: Summer of Soccer! 🏆 (Celebrating the big soccer excitement in town!)

How it works: Register online or at a county branch to log books and join in on special themed library events.

The Swag: Kids and teens get a free book just for signing up (while supplies last!). Completing the challenge enters them to win Kindle e-readers or a 4-pack of tickets to Raging Waters! 🌊

Did you know? Many participating LA County and LAPL branches are hosting Lunch at the Library, providing free lunches to youth ages 18 and under all summer long (first-come, first-served).
