Beethoven is one out of 110 elementary schools and one of out of 162 K-12 schools in LAUSD to be recognized as having a robust arts program.
Beethoven - An Exemplar Arts Program School
At Beethoven we are proud to encourage the arts with the following opportunities for our students:
- Art Specialist - Teaches visual arts to all classes one day a week. MR. RAMOS
- PS Arts - Teaches music, instruments and spacial movement to students one day a week. MS. DAVAL
- Orchestra - Teaches instrumental music with wind instruments one day a week to 3rd - 5th graders. MR. GEIGER
- 826LA - Field trip to nearby community program that reinforces arts connected to curriculum.
- Drama - We are currently seeking a drama teacher for 2016-17. In the past we had a robust drama program with 2 drama teachers.
At Beethoven we are committed to the arts because:
- Children exposed to drama, music and art are more proficient in reading and math.
- Arts education help students improve visual analysis skills, learn from mistakes, be creative and make critical judgements.
- Visual arts help connect students to the larger world, ultimately improving community cohesion.
- Classroom integration of creative arts motivates students and improves achievement levels.
- Arts education improves the social success of students by decreasing disciplinary infractions, improves attendance rates and graduation rates.
- Arts education can help rewire the brain in positive ways and improve IQ scores.

- Beethoven After School Enrichment programs offer video game design, visual arts and dance to name a few.
